Why has god abandoned me? For years I struggled in life and really wasn't a good person after god allowed my father to kill my mother and try to kill me, and eventually take his own life when I was age 19. After all that I still worked hard to put myself through school and start a career. Eventually I did hit rock bottom though, lost my job, did drugs, and drank, so I dropped everything and started over from scratch. I started my career again, met my beautiful wife, and now have two beautiful children. I became a believer in god. Now I've been unemployed for 6 months and been praying this whole time for 1 simple thing, to be able to find a job so I can support my family. I'm losing my house, my car, everything I've worked hard to give my family. I feel that god has abandoned my family, my children, all of us. Why? Whats a good reason why god would allow a good family to all become homeless? Whats a good reason why god would not answer a very simple prayer? I'm starting to not believe and don't like this feeling. Why is god being so spiteful to my family? I don't understand.

your website isn't working very well, but here's my question for God;
why does He allow the continued existence of Christian religion, with it's stupidity and lies,(the teaching that Jesus was divine, for instance, which is childish nonsense)
and it's hate and hypocrisy(the attitude towards homosexuals and Muslims, for instance) ?

If God is capable of healing the sick and performing miracles, then why doesn't he heal amputees? Are the healing of amputees not part of his "plan"? Surely there has to be at least one amputee out there that is righteous enough to have their missing limb/s regenerated. A god capable of moving mountains and creating life should easily be able to regenerate a limb for a righteous person, but we have no medical record of this ever actually happening. That just doesn't seem right.

I have just two questions for the Lord of All...first, do You make mistakes? And, second...do You play favorites?

Who are those 24 Elders in front of the God's Throne, and what are those 4 Throne's with man's face one with loin's face one with bull's face and flying bird. what does all this mean.

God, why did you let a drunk driver kill my best friend's 2 younger brothers? Were they bad people? Or was it all part of some strange plan you had for them?
God, can you tell me why you are letting hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians die horrific deaths in Iraq? Is it because they believe in Allah, and not Jesus?
God, should we wage holy war on all non-Christians?

God, why do you allow paramilitary groups in Africa to go around slaughtering men and women in front of their children, then send the surviving sons into armed combat, and take the daughters to be used as sex slaves?
What is the purpose for allowing this?
God, why do you allow so much suffering in this world? Is there a reason why millions of people around the world should starve to death everyday? Is there some kind of higher meaning in making people suffer and die painful deaths?
God, why did you allow 6 million Jews to be murdered at the hands of a single man?
God, please clarify this passage from the bible...
Exodus 21:7 “When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she shall not go out as the male slaves do. If she does not please her master, who designated her for himself, then he shall let her be redeemed; he shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt unfairly with her. If he designates her for his son, he shall deal with her as with a daughter.”
So--is it OK to sell my daughter off as a slave? The law of the bible supersedes any state or federal laws in the United States, correct?
Also, please clarify this passage...
Exodus 31:15 “Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord; whoever does any work on the sabbath day shall be put to death.”
I work on Sundays from time to time, b/c I am a busy guy, have lots of work, and want to provide for those closest to me. Does this mean I now have to kill myself?
If these passages are considered to be anachronistic and ridiculous within the context of modern day society, please explain why people seem to pick and choose which passages to adhere to, and which ones to discard. i.e. homosexuality.
People always seem to revert back to "the bible" when condemning homosexual behavior, b/c it is against God's will. If we should blindly follow everything said in the bible, should we also sell our daughters into slavery, and kill ourselves for working on Sunday?
Please advise.

If God is the only possible deity, then what does that make Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, etc?
Are they all going to hell?

If God is so just and merciful, then why would he allow the Catholic church to become filled with child molestors, and then protect them from criminal prosecution?

Actually I (one of the author of this blog) don't mind any of the comments so far. I sincerely hope to hear real questions from real people no matter where you are in your faith. Some will be more serious than others, but that's alright. We don't take ourselves too seriously here :)

Not a question, but a comment if I may. You knew when you opened this forum you would get wisecracks from non-believers, just as the faithful have since Christ walked the earth. Stand fast to your faith. You are doing a good thing.
As for the wars, they are over religion, not God. There is a big difference.
Unfortunately we find few answers on earth. I do believe the everlasting life God has promised us is not here on earth, it is beyond our mortal existence and comprehension. We have no right to expect an easy life here.

When will you start to answer some of these questions??
Posted by: John | September 15, 2009 at 01:56 PM
Jews, Muslims, and Christians all worship the same God, yet throughout history we have witnessed countless wars waged over religion. Why do people fight and kill each other in the name of God, and how can He allow this to happen?

My father just passed away after a 4 month battle with lung cancer. He suffered towards the end. My grandmother spent 13 years dying in a nursing home where she could do nothing but lay in bed. She was in pain and suffering. She didn't even recognize her children for almost 10 years. Also, I have been physically abused/assaulted/raped on 3 occasions before I was 22 years old. What kind of God would let this happen to my family? What is the ultimate purpose in this?

3rd times a charm! I'm confused and upset because I was told at mass yesterday at mass that I am going to hell for committing mortal sins.
[Heb 10:28 (Ex 20) + Heb 10:26 (Num 15:30-31) = 1 John 5:16c]
Is that true? What about the shed blood of Jesus?
[John 3:16]

I got one more question that I have for you, God, as I sit here looking my previous blog entry. Where is my prosperity and abundance (the blessing of Abraham) spoken of in Dueteronomy 28 and affirmed by Jesus in John 10:10? [I've been unemployed for 2 years now and have yet to see any improvement in my situation. I realized (by your sometimes subtle and not so gentle promptings) that I needed to quit my previous job because I was only motivated by lust, greed, money, and more all for myself.]

OK God ... Why, when I was dating Jennifer in college, did I not realize that she was the perfect girl for me (especially with the way I think and my wants now in a wife/girlfriend) and break up with her instead of staying together with her, getting married, and starting a family (including the twin blonde girls I dream about)?

Posted by: S. LaPorta | September 02, 2009 at 08:55 AM
God says in the bible, things like: he loves us; trust him; he answers prayer, etc., etc.
Then, why do we still see good people (even Believers) suffer? And seemingly, God does not answer their prayers?
